Its nice to know that even in places where dogs are really really really really thought of as as nothing that there are people who know such love....those people who gave Teddy back were smitten by that love...you are very lucky to have gotten him back...even here people find pups and fall so in love that they don't return them to their owners who are left with broken hearts...
