If he left the traps there, he will hopefully be back to check the traps to see if the dogs went inside. I would tempt the dogs with some tasty meat trreat....poor little Chihuahua....that waqs someones little baby and they probably dont know yet.....let them keep hoping their baby is maybe safe with someone.......leave them a little hope.....
