I have an 18mo. old Yorkie who is very picky. He eats dog food when he chooses and other times I have to cook for him. Mainly chicken but he does get ground beef occasionally. I would like to know how often a yorkie is supposed to move his bowels? Sometimes it is every other day. His bowels are not dark and they are formed but not hard. He does not strain and seems to have no problem when he does go. He is active and playful. I have a quality dog food out for him all the time but some time he just refuses to eat it. I have tried several different types and he still only eats when he gets hungry. As I said, when I get really concerned about his appetite, I cook for him. He is 3.3lbs and he seems to be normal. His vet does not seem concerned and told me that as long as I leave food out that he will eat when he gets hungry. He also has constant access to fresh water. I have never owned a tiny dog before and just wanted to know if I should be concerned? I love my little man and don't want to see him become ill.
