I'm not sure about a second dog so I will only comment on tail docking.


I am from the States where I know a lot of procedures are the "norm" with respect to body parts being removed from animals.


I now live in England and I have learned that in most countries (on this side of the pond, anyway) tail docking, declawing cats, removing teeth from animals so they don't bite etc. may be beneficial or aesthetically pleasing to humans. However, there is absolutely no benefit to the animals and is viewed as cruelty.


I'm of the opinion that if the removal of a body part isn't necessary for health reasons then there is no reason it should be done.
