I would say to let them tell you when they have to go potty....if you wake them to go then they get that routine. That's just my opinion though :-) Winnie has not asked to go our in the middle of the night since we brought her home. She had an accident in her kennel the first night....and that was because she went and then alerted! Since then she has gone out first thing in the morning when we wake up. She still has some accidents during the day because I don't see her tell that she has to go out....but all in all she's doing very well. She sleeps in the bed with us now. We kept her in the kennel overnight for the first almost 2 weeks....then my husband brought her to bed with him one night and that was that.
