Have you had a lot of rain in your part of Nevada recently? My boys have had brief bouts of sneezing/almost gagging like from nasal throat drip after some rainy periods.
They have also done this after inhaling things in the house (Teddy had a piece of rice up his nose).
I hope Piper is back to herself soon. A vet visit is a good idea if it doesn't go away.
