When he does go on the bad it is pee 1 time he pooped.... wondering if I take away the pad? I really don't have any advice re: going outside as my dog uses a litterbox with a pee pad in it and this works for us. However, we have tried to regulate when our dog eats which then allows us to predict, with some certainty, when he's likely to pee/poop! This is useful info for times when we know we'll be out for longer than normal etc. For example, my dog will not pee if he's already pooped in his box so a predictable evacuation schedule helps to avoid issues!

Do i need to put a bow in his hair to keep his hair out of his eyes? I like the no bow look lol I rarely put a bow in my dogs hair so its a personal preference but its a nice thing to do if you are going to keep his coat long as, otherwise, hair will get in his eyes and hair can carry bacteria which could then infect his eyes. I keep my dog in a short cut to avoid issues such as above.

Do you all free feed? I liked giving out 1 meal a day.... looks like a cup of food a day? As Maximo has already kindly pointed out, the weight of your dog will be a great guide as to how much you should be feeding a day and then it also depends on the food guidelines. More info, like weight and feeding history, may allow us to assist further. Just some initial info for comparison, my dog weighs 3lbs 14oz (thought he'd reached four lbs the other day but think he may have been constipated..ha) and eats 45g or 1.5 oz Arcana/day.

Trying to get him to sit lol he seems to come when called because he is getting very attached wondering how training will go with him.... I am trying to get him to sit on command right now but he just looks around or at me.... wanting the treat in my hand.... I know it will be allot of work. When my dog was a puppy, I gently pushed his little butt down, commanded "sit" and made him retain that position for 1 second, treat, then the next night, 2 seconds, treat, then 3 seconds and so on as I found that, even though he grasped the concept very quickly, he slammed his butt on the ground for a nanosecond and wanted a treat. Very smart dogs!

So he has not been fixed yet. When on lap he starts licking allot last night he started humping my arm.... I said no and put/pushed him on the floor he ran back to his bed and looked at me till I called him over after a few minutes.... have to figure out how to stop licking I guess.... Although my dog is 11 months old, he is not neutered and we have no intention to neuter him until he either gains weight as per vet advice or hits 3 years old as per our breeder recommendation. However, he does get "excited" when he licks and it seems Yorkies like to lick so you can only tell him NO when he does this if its something that is annoying!

I have caught him marking two times and each time I said NO and he ran to his crate and has never done it since. It was about two months ago that I caught him doing this and its been that long since he did it last (as far as I can tell). I clean the baseboards in my house and do a scouting mission every morning and haven't seen any signs of marking. I think you HAVE to let them know the behavior is unacceptable before they will stop. If he's been allowed to do it in his previous home, or it just simply went unnoticed so corrections haven't been applied, it may take persistence but they will stop or at least reduce the behavior. I know that neutering can assist but that's usually when it has been done early and it's no guarantee. I would do some more research on that, if I were you, so that you can make an informed decision about what you think is best for your dog in that respect.

At any rate look forward to learning!

Tom

Hi Tom,

I put some info in red next to some of your comments but this info is just what works for me and my dog so may or may not be helpful.

At any rate, welcome to YT
