I'm fascinated with the way dogs learn to communicate. Max and Teddy will gently paw at us to get our attention when we are sitting in chairs. Their primary means of asking for something is performing sits and staring at us. Then we have to play 20 questions to find out what they want. Max stands up and Teddy turns in a circle when we ask the right question.
If Max can't get our attention, he will try to talk. He is pretty funny with the sounds he comes up with and we have learned what each one means. The only time he barks for something is when we are upstairs or outdoors.
