I always clip the fur the night before a nail clip. Others here have used pop socks/stockings, to put over the paw, pushing the nails through, that way the fur doesn't get caught. We are going to try this too.

We clip then dremel.

How do you hold the dog?
What we do might not work for you, everyone and dog is different. I hold the dogs firmly against me, dog on the table, me standing. Dog is facing under the arm and we fold the leg back. Bit like a horse is done. It seems easier to hold them, with less of a pull. Plus they don't see what's happening.
