Congrats on your new rescue, you could not have made a better choice.

I volunteer at a rescue and can offer a few pieces of advice to help you and Hippie along the journey.

1. You will need to earn Hippies trust, get down on the floor with him and sit, hand feed him some of his kibble and let him understand you are the good guy.

2. Get a good harness for Hippie and take him out for walks. Yorkies (or an small breed) should only be walked with a harness. Do not be surprised if Hippie does not know how to walk on a leash, that may take some training.

3. If Hippie was in a shelter type enviroment he may be really tired the first couple of days, that is normal. Also he may know eat well, it is important that you try to get him to eat and if it goes on longer than a couple of days call you Vet.

4. Very important - Get Hippie into your Vet for a welcome visit. Did the rescue give you his previous Vet records?

Again, Congrats and let me know if I can help anymore.
