I think Xpens are just fine too! Especially when you have small dogs, they can still have a safe haven, and lots of room to roam in. It is not so easy when you have multiple large dogs though Although I do know one breeder/exhibitor who happily uses outdoor Xpens when at the show grounds He has trained them never to jump the pen. I just could not do that - would not trust that some idiot would stick their hand through or above the pen to say Hi!

When exhibiting or if we are staying in a home with young children, when dogs go to their crates for the night we also lock the crate, so young tots don't get tempted to play with doggies when we are not around
