Shaina passed away at 14 1/2 in Jan 2013. She had a heart murmur all her life and one day she couldn't breathe. I took her to the Emergency Vet here in Pittsburgh and the only vet cardiologist in PA works there. She said when they have an episode they usually last one year. I asked what should I look for as an episode and she told me this was it. I was shocked. They've always told me she had a murmur, but except for yearly exams, I hardly ever had to make special trips to the vet. She lasted almost two years after that with medicine, mostly cheap people medicine I got at the grocery store.

You are right, I love Pippin, but Shaina was special and my "forever dog" Pippin is only still a puppy and I think I will come to think of her as a forever dog too. She makes me smile and laugh, she is so full of personality.

Please keep us posted as you go through your journey.

Here shaina is in her velvet cape for Halloween.
