I don't know if this is what you are describing, but, Prissy our 12 year old toy poodle had a black growth/tag on the rim of her right eye. I discussed this issue with our vet and it was decided to remove the growth. I held her food and water after midnight, took her in at 7 a.m. (Was a nervous wreck) and with a great deal of anxiety left her. Of course, I called the ladies at our Vet before it was time to pick Prissy up....and all was well. Thank God! While she was out, I had them to go ahead and do a dental too. Prissy did very well and you can't even tell where the growth/tag was. Again, I don't know if this is what you are describing, but I hope it helps in some way.
