Poor baby! I'm so sorry to read this and what's going on with your little angel. Steroids never fixed any behavioral problem that I know of except to make the dog taking them pretty hyper. There is something causing that pain and it sounds like the steroids are calming the inflammation, reducing the swelling but if that pain hasn't entirely gone by now, I believe I'd want a second opinion by an internist, otherwise known as diagnosticians.
