question Breed or show quality is in the eye of the beholder. The standard is so plain..like color...but go to a show and you will see a line of various shades of blue, silver, black...ask the exhabitor if they think their Yorkie is blue and most will say, yes.
I am harder on a stud..he can produce 100"s of pups, so he needs to be the best. A bitch can be of lesser quality in my opinion. A cobby, square bitch is not always made for breeding, but a long bodied one will not give you the type you want either. All show breeders have bitches who would never get one point in the ring let alone 15.
You know what keeps most Yorkies out of the ring? The desire to show and be a showoff...so many lovely Yorks have no animation..they look like a cardboard cut out. JMO..and you are so nice to take the time to listen to my ramblings..but do you know why Yorkies never make the group cut at Westminster? They do not have that terrier spirit like they once did..watch the other breeds of terriers..they are little packages of TNT...ready to show off...that is what I look for, temperment first. |
