I paid $800 for my first yorkie, a 'designer breed' mix. I should have known better, I didn't want to spend the money for an AKC because I wasn't going to breed him but I didn't understand all the other things you pay for when getting a reputable breeder pup. He had/has lots of health issues which have cost me thousands of dollars over the years. Of course I love him and wouldn't trade him for a million dollars but when advising people I would say don't be afraid to pay a little more in the beginning, it'll be worth it in the end. Also if you don't care about AKC you should adopt, cute little yorkies are in need of good homes all the time!
