It's great that you are a new dog owner and trying to do your best to raise your puppy. I would suggest to search this site and the web for information about dogs,or go to the library to get out dome books. Stay in touch with his former owner for advice as to the toileting /feeding times/methods he is used to. Is he vacinated? If so you can take him out for walks, but remember to take a poop bag with you.
Play is great-we have a squeaky newspaper my pup loves to fetch with,a stuffed, squeaky rat-- Yorkies were ratters--a small ball and she loves dried pigs ears to chew on.
Praise. praise. praise works wonders and helps him bond with you. How about some puppy obedience classes to give you tips and help you to meet some other dog owners.Ask doggie friends for advice and outgrown equipment. Dog proof your appartment-pick up anything you do not want chewed and offer chew toys. Crates and /or puupy pens are great for when you are not home or gate off your kitchen.
Enjoy and soon you will wonder how you managed without your furbaby!
