I would say, if you can leave the food and water out so he knows were to find it.
Dont give him any treats, tell he eats his own feed. I will only give my girls treats in one week maybe 1 to 2 times. If I give them treats all the time then they will not eat there own food. Plus they are better then the food that they eat, would you eat the food too. NO!!!!!!

It might take time, You have to think about what he or she did and had when he lived with the breeder, he might have had other dogs and do puppies love other dogs. Plus cats!!!!
I think that a smell has to do with things too. I know the puppies that I sold, when they went with the new owner it took about 1 week to get adjusted to you and your smell, Plus the BIG house that he gets to play in. Then you have to think about the smell that you have outside.

Just let time go by and you will never be without your baby......
