GFCIs don't normally trip unless there is water involved... It's why they are installed in bathrooms and kitchens.
The GFCI is there to protect you and your equipment. It has already done that. The fact that it does not trip with other things, but does with your machine indicates that the GFCI is working and your machine has an electrical fault....
