Waiting for blood results.. I haven't posted here in a long time but I really need some advice.
Sophie has been having some belly issues for the last week or so and we are lost on what to do next.
Last weekend she was not acting like herself but was still eating and drinking/running around but by Tuesday she stopped wanting to eat all together so we rushed her into the vet.
The vet got her to eat some Science Diet a/d and told us to bring her back if she started vomiting or her bowel movements changed. She was doing fine until yesterday when she had a soft bowel movement and it was covered in a thick yellow mucus, so back to the vet we went. They did a fecal test and it came back clear of any parasites and her exam and temperature were normal. This vet told us it could have been from switching her back to her kibble, that her belly just hadn't adjusted. I asked for blood work because I want to rule out anything more than just a belly ache. She has blood done at the end of April and that was all normal but a few weeks ago we had her stomach emptied because she decided to eat a chocolate donut. He said that the residual effects from that would be gone by now and he wasn't worried and he would send in her blood and we would hear back today what the results are.
It's a long weekend and they told us that their lab is closed and isn't sending out reports until after the weekend but our vet is now closed until Wednesday morning.
Sophie has only been eating her kibble since the last bowel movement and just had another one that has streaks of yellow in it, but not mucus. Should we be taking her into the 24 hours vet tonight and have them run her blood in house so we can have the results tonight so if there is anything major going on we can start treatment now instead of waiting until Wednesday? Or is this being over paranoid?
I am definitely worried about her but I don't want to over react, so I am hoping for some opinions from the outside. |
