Thank you so much for all of your ideas everyone; feeling lucky to be here -- you all are so friendly and full of advice! I will definitely look into getting a breakaway, silky collar for her... she does need a bell since I never seem to know where she is with her tiny size.
For her harness, I may try a t-shirt underneath it... interesting idea, will experiment with that for sure. Her hair is pure cotton, just looking at it seems to mat it!
