Please dont beat yourself up tooooooo much....we drop them, we step on them, we kick them, we roll over on them while napping, they fall off beds and couches and chairs.....all accidents.....you can only try to "fly ahead" of them, ie., try to see a worse case event in any situation, and then try to avoid it! They will quickly and effortlessly jump readidly from a bed or couch or chair....I encourage all my new owners to not let go of them for a second when they are up on furniture with them....I try to convey the thought these are like a little human baby, and have the same propensity to get hurt that a new born baby does....I try to equate it to a new born human baby since that is easier to relate to, along with things we do or dont do with our own enfants....we always keep a hand on them when they are on any elevated surface....we would never place our enfants on the kitchen counter and then leave them unattended for fear they would squirm around and fall to the floor. A puppy will do the very same thing, from any surface, so keep that in mind. All you can do is try to see disasters before they can happen, dont put anything past that pups capabilities to get into trouble, and pray alot! It happens to all of us.....and your baby is fine now. All you can do is try to get and stay ahead of them! You got medical care for baby immediately, and you are following up with medical care.....you are doing just fine! (I always keep my thumb and forefinger clasped around a front leg when I am holding those wiggle worms in my arms or in my hands!) |
