Default puppy fell today/shock (long)

I am just beside myself. My 10 wk old yorkie male and I were going out to porch for our daily playtime late yesterday afternoon. Somehow he fell out/squirmed of my arms onto a thin mat on our tile floor as I was going to put him down. It was so fast I can not figure out what happened. I have been so careful since his arrival.

He immediately went into shock and I rushed to the car and the emergency vet. Right after fall, his body was stiff and cooler. Eyes glazed and tongue white. I wrapped him in a blanket and sat him on my lap petting him. Several minutes into the ride, which was over 30 min in traffic, he came to. Im not sure he was totally out because his eyes were open most of the time. I tried to keep him up in case of a head injury. While waiting to see a vet (I was upset we had to wait) I put him on floor on his blanket and he could stand and walk a few steps.

The vet gave him a very thorough exam and there are no broken bones. His pupils were even and dilated properly. His tongue returned to its perfect puppy pink. As the visit went on, he started walking more and looking like he was feeling better. We came home and he was eating, drinking, walking but absolutely silent. He was sleepy which is normal for 9-10pm anyway. I have been up all night monitoring him in case of head injury/concussion. He is using his pee pad and had a BM after eating. He's slept his crate snuggled in his blanket. He went in there voluntarily tonight without a peep.

I plan on taking him to our vet in the morning for a follow-up visit just to double check how he's doing. Ive taken off work and we're going to have a day of snuggles and quiet.

Now I need to pull myself together. I cry every time I see him, talk about it with my family or think about what happened. I don't want him to sense my sadness but I am sure he does.

This has been therapeutic for me just to type this out. My husband actually relieved me and he has the puppy with him on the couch and they are sleeping. I'll post a follow-up tomorrow after our vet visit.

Thanks for listening.
