I got Baby a little after 8 weeks old, and she is fine. It's really the breeder's preference. One major reason is that Yorkies taken away earlier than 12 weeks are a little nippier b/c they didn't really have the chance for their mommy to teach them not to bite hard. I do have to say, that Baby was VERY nippy for a while, but she's grown out of that a lot.
