it's a personal choice really, breeding females have a greater risk of cancers, but you don't want to spay too young, you want the dog to grow to it's fullest before spaying. You take away many of the hormones important to it's bone and joint growth in an early spay.
There is a lot of research coming out on the benefits of not spaying. You just have to be a very responsible pet owner and not let them be doing any monkey business
