I know people who have replaced a pet too soon and they expected the new pet to be exactly like the old one, and that could never be because they are all unique. I learned my lesson with my dad. My sister and I ended up getting my dad a dog for x-mas shortly after his other dog passed...and while my dad does love the dog and takes care of him well, we probably should have let him pick out his own dog in his own time.

When you are ready, if you want another dog, I say go for it.

I am so very sorry for your loss BTW... I've only had my Ricky for a year and it seems like he's been a part of the household forever. It sucks so bad that our pets can't live as long as us....sometimes I wonder if the heartache of loosing them makes them worth having in the first place...but anything you truly love and loose hurts and dogs definitely bless us with lots of love and joy in the short time they inhabit this earth.
