First of, so so sorry for your loss and pain.
When my GSD Malachi had to be put to sleep, I greieved terribly, couldn't face getting another dog for 5 years and still grieved.No dog could replace our bond.
Now I wish I'd let another dog into my life much sooner. The new dog doesn't stop the grieving or replace your loss, but it does give you hope and a new friend to love and help with the grief. I'm sure our dogs want us to love and bond. They are pack animals, so are we.
