Try crating him more if he will tolerate it? Mine is 8 months and not reliably trained either. But he's an absolute nightmare in his crate anytime other than very late at night. Daytime, anytime after the sun comes up, he howls and barks as loud as he can for an (hour or more) until I get him out. He's ridiculous. So stinking cute, but the most difficult dog I've ever owned for sure. Just try to be patient and take it day by day
