Lilah enjoys her tooth brushing too but I admit I have to work hard to brush all over while she tries to lick up her toothpaste. It is enzyme based and my understanding is that the contact with the tooth itself is theoretically all that is needed but I feel that the brushing is very beneficial as well for obvious reasons. Having regular chews available helps to break up plaque and reduce tartar as well. I like the long handled toothbrushes- shoving a cloth in lilah's mouth did not work for us either, lol. Jenny at topline pet (mimomimo above poster) sells two packs of dog toothbrushes for 2$ And with a tasty paste I bet tooth brushing could become a treat your pup can't resist!
