Maria does have a bias towards white kitchens and subway tiles. She says subway tiles for the kitchen and bathroom have been around since the 50's and are still popular today, they are timeless and classic. Some people might find them boring but I love them! Love that kitchen. I do love the more Euro / Scandinavian look of no-upper-cupboards but I couldn't deal with the loss of allll that precious storage personally. Do you follow Lauren Liess's blog? So good! She redid her kitchen and got rid of her uppers, and I love her result (pic below) (she is an interior designer):
