Emmie turned 1 year old on Thursday!! The last few months dealing with the CCL tear and the LP has been difficult. I even took her to a third surgeon for an opinion but it basically was the same as the first two, except she was against a TPLO completely because she didn't like it for small dogs. At that point I just kept her activity very restricted and carried her around a lot. After the first few weeks she seemed back to normal most of the time, but I still tried as best as I could to keep her as calm as possible. I even am careful playing tug of war with her bc she locks those back legs and is pulling so hard on the toy if she twists.... I can only imagine. She has developed some separation anxiety which I am sure is partly my fault for carrying her around everywhere. The last month her pain has come back a little stronger than it had been, a little worse in the afternoons and evenings. The vet said the LP in her left leg is about the same but in her right it is worse which I am sure is because of the CCL tear. She takes Novox daily with Tramadol for breakthrough pain and that controls it for the most part. When she is hurting I will ask her if she wants her medicine and she gets really excited. Sad, but I am so grateful she takes it easily! So now we have an appt with her regular vet and with the orthopedic surgeon since she is finally 1 year old so we can figure out the plan. She does have mild tracheal collapse but no problems with that so far. She had a great birthday though!! And she has brought me so much joy, I couldn't imagine life without her.

I am grateful for all the advice I received. The tips helped out a lot.
