There's an entire litany of tests that should be done prior to breeding, if one cares about the health of the dogs. In addition, it's important to know the health history of the ENTIRE line, not just the particular dogs you intend to breed. Some genetic defects may only show up when you've put two of the wrong dogs together; others are much more prevalent.
