I am a believer in hollistic forms of treatment in addition to western medicine. I have had rocky mountain spotted fever and my grandmother has fibromyalgia, and some friends of mine have lyme disease and they all say that hollistic things have helped them exceedingly and i have experienced them myself. If natural things help vitamins, herbs, etc i think it is worth a try before resorting to pills especially since my vet didn't believe them necessary at this time. My vet reccomended the multivitamin and the hawthorn. All that the animals apawthecary bottle has in it is: hawthorn berries, gingko biloba, garlic, vegetable glycerin and distilled water. Nothing to raise a red flag. I have done a lot of research and many pet owners swear by it. As far as the probiotics go they have worked brilliantly in preventing tummy upsets so that is why i feed them those on a daily basis. The second opinion was not specifically a cardiologist but he is someone with much experience and who has a good reputation with hearts. i myself take supplements that very much help me and would never give my babies something i wouldn't consume myself in human form.
Garlic is toxic! There are new studies that say multivitamins in humans can cause more harm then good so I imagine it's the same with dogs.
