I am totally on board with this! Thinking about it from a patron's perspective, I would think that would be adorable at the diner. Thinking from a mommy's perspective, I am guilty of purchasing an extensive (and still growing) wardrobe for my Strudel - so I am a bit biased.
Strudel actually brings his choice of outfit to me to put on him, so I feel like your DH could be wrong in thinking that it degrades the dog.
