Pyrex and glass in general is safe. They only add lead to heavy ornamental glass to increase the index of refraction and make it more "sparkly." I prefer pyrex to regular glass because it is more heavy duty, and microwave and dishwasher safe.

So, to summarize, the safest materials for dog food and water bowls are glass and plastic, both preferably made in the USA. Ceramic bowls that are certified lead-free or are food and beverage quality are also safe if they are made in the USA.
