My 7 month old fully immunized puppy, Piper, has parvo. Her shots were completed over 3 months ago. Hopefully we caught it early enough. She just started vomiting and one episode of liquid stool before I took her in. She had fluids going within 5 minutes of a positive test. I'm scared and worried of course, have shed a few tears but know she's in good hands, even if they're not mine. My question is now what? I have multiple dogs at home. From a 13 year old lab down to 3 litters of foster pups from 4-6 weeks and their mom's. I also have a 4 month old foster puppy who's had all immunizations and other assorted fosters.
I've arranged to have the carpet steam cleaned and plan on spaying with trifecta (sp?) after, including all the fabtic furniture. My washer and dryer both have antibacterial settings and have been working overtime. I have a friend willing to keep Piper for the next month after she gets out of the hospital if that's truly necessary. Everything I've read and the techs and vet say she'll shed for about a month after. I really don't want her to go away even for a short period but have to think of my other dogs. I WON'T be giiving up my Piper. What type of setup do you think would work to protect everyone. Everyone is fully immunized except the puppies, but look how well that worked. Two litters have recieved 1 dose of neopar 2 weeks ago at 5 weeks of age and I was planning on giving them a 5 way at 7 weeks, this tuesday and the other litter will be 5 weeks on monday and is supposed to get their first neopar. There hasn't been any contact with Piper and the puppies. I'm rather picky about who has contact with my babies but that didn't seem to help my Piper. How can I protect my babies and get my Piper home?
