I'm so sorry about your baby Pebbles. I wouldn't wish the devastation of losing a beloved pup on my worst enemy. Sometimes it helps to talk here though; I know it did for me when Minnie died.
Just speaking for myself, if it were me, and the necropsy revealed negligence on the part of the groomer, I'd be happy just recouping the cost of the necropsy, because this would put the groomer on notice to take better care of clients. And I would want to know for my own peace of mind how my dog died, even if the groomer wasn't at fault.
