The price to do a necropsy on a small dog is often $500-$1,000. and does not always reveal the cause of death. In my case, I decided not to, even though I would have liked to have know the actual cause. Bottom line for me was that it wouldn't bring her back, and I needed to move through the grieving and focus on our good memories more than I needed to have answers to things that are out of my control.
It is an individual choice, and where I see value in getting results for breeder information or revealing abuse,etc, it is also OK to just let our little ones rest in peace and hold on to memories of happier times. |
That's kind of how I feel too. Even if the groomer was at fault, in Texas a dog is just a piece of property legally, so suing them and winning would probably just get you the amount of money back that you paid for the necropsy.
I'm so sorry about your baby Pebbles. I wouldn't wish the devastation of losing a beloved pup on my worst enemy. Sometimes it helps to talk here though; I know it did for me when Minnie died.
