If you don't want to groom her yourself I'd take her to the groomer soon to get her used to it. I'd have them give her a bath, sanitary trim, tip her ears, trim around her paws, cut between her paw pads, and trim her nails.
You can also get her arm pits shaved to help with matting.

Make sure to stress you don't want them to cut by her eyes.

I use people hair scissors. I bought them recently from Sally Beauty Supply, the brand is eclipse and they were about $10.
