Cindy you are a saint for agreeing to 10 days I hope it all works out, have you done a day or two as a test run? Lola and my DH and I have such a good routine that I don't think I could watch anyone else's dog for fear it would mess up the good thing we have going. One time years ago I said I would watch a friend's 6# dog, but that we would need to do a test run, everything went well until bedtime, the dog would not settle down and was up and down the stairs barking, then we closed the door to the bedroom and he kept barking and scratching at the door. My dog who slept on our bed was going nuts, he did not want the dog on the bed, plus the dog kept jumping off anyway, which made me nervous. My husband gets up at 5:45 AM and works 11 hours he was getting so pissed that I finally got our crate out and put it in the garage and that's where the dog spent the night, it was around June so the temp was fine. I am sure the dog was not happy, but I knew he was safe and of course we did not have to hear him. I told my friend that while play dates were fun watching her dog would not work out. You guys seem to have more patience than us, but if possible a test run would not be a bad idea. I no longer ask friends to watch Lola, I am so lucky to have a found a lady that watches small dogs, mostly yorkies in her home and they have the run of it as well as her secure backyard, LOL this way no one asks me in return! Lola just spent 7 days there in early March, she had a blast with the 7 other yorkies and came home a little butterball so I know she ate well. |
