Hey there itchy Charlie, ask your mum how she feels about switching to a raw diet. I've seen with my friends dogs massive changes from changing from kibble to raw.
I also have a friend who runs a rescue, she only feeds raw because she saw a much speedier recovery rate in her dogs and insists adoptive parents continue this practice when they take their dogs home.

The problem with steroids such as prednisone is they shut down your immune system and give a quick fix. You would want a solution that remedies the problem from where the allergies are stemming. Ask your mum if the vet took blood work and checked all your organ functions too. Often that can be the issue. Digestive upset too can lead to allergies, so how about you say hey mum can I have a wee bit of plain greek yoghurt or a probiotic with my food.
