Not all yorkies can grow the full coat. It depends on genetics, just like us. For example I have very thin and limp hair. I have tried every product available in the western hemisphere to make my hair thicker, but it just doesn't work. I don't have it in my genes. Same with my Uni. She has very fine thin hair and breaks easily. I have only cut her hair once when she was a puppy to get rid of the black. Not once since and she is 7. Her hair is not even close to touching the ground. Her face gets long but still not enough to get it in a topknot and even if I did, it would be a pathetic little sprout.

Toto on the other hand. His hair is so thick and pin straight. Grows like a weed. I don't give him regular trims or any supplements for hair. It's just how it grows out.
