I think your little guy is so cute! I don't know why we are suddenly seeing so many Yorkies that have shorter coats. It must be some genetic thing.
It is possible that some good all natural supplements for skin and coat may help him grow some more length. Omege 3 supplements are really good for skin and coat and dogs usually like them. Trying to use a natural shampoo that does not have sulfate or other chemicals will also help the skin and hair to get stronger especially with bathing weekly. Sulfates can dry out the skin way too much if used on a weekly basis.
Some people just keep their little ones coat's short. I have always loved long haired pets so I love grooming their hair and keeping them looking nice.
