Some insurances don't require a visit before it starts...it just requires a wellness checkup within that year so as long as your dogs been to the vet, it's fine. Healthy Paws is one of these...as long as your dog is under 6 years of age. So bentley would not have to see the vet to get insured with them.
Most do have a 2 week waiting period before the insurance starts. If you get insurance, you may want to see if they cover and hip displasia. Some won't ever...some have longer waiting periods.
Healthy Paws will not cover displasia until you've been under coverage for a year, but it will cover congenital problems, so I am assuming LP will be covered.
None of the insurances cover pre-existing conditions, so if you take your pup to the vet before you get insurance and before the waiting period is up, it will be considered pre-existing!!
I agree with ColesMommy...if you can call his breeder, that would be great!!
If he's not in pain right now and you think he'd be ok waiting, I'd try to get insurance ASAP. |
