They didn't the one I watched...but the dog really didn't seem to mind. It was more like she welcomed it...she walked in and lay down as if to say, "OK, here I am...let's get going." But the needles were REALLY small...so thin they weren't even stiff...they were flimsy...the dog didn't move or flinch or anything though.
