I am starting to believe that her condition may not improve as proficiently as her vets had hoped.. We have tried many different medications and prescription foods and we are still experiencing the same symptoms since day 1. She is currently only eating EN (which can only be accessed with a prescription) and is taking sucralfate to coat stomach lining, omeprazole to block acids, and metronidazole. Looking for people who may have tips/answers on how to treat a very young dog with this very sick condition... |
We went through this with our little guy also. We took him to Texas A&M after trying everything with our local vet. They did put him on Tylosin capsules for a while, but also have him on Royal Canin HP food. It is prescription food and comes in small bites. I also occasionally give him the Hills ZD in cans (also prescription) if I have to give him pills. He thinks it's a treat! I give him absolutely NO treats or chews...anything other than his prescription food causes him to have a bout of bloody diarrhea and vomiting. He no longer takes any medication for his condition, but I am so very, very careful about his diet. Everyone knows not to give him one bite of anything to eat. I truly thought we might lose him at one point because he was so sick and having these bouts so often. Since his diet change about 4 years ago, he has done great! Good luck!
