Use a wet cotton ball to moisten the area first. I use a flea comb (closely spaced teeth) to comb the area and keep it clean.

There are many things that cause eye goobers: stray hairs, environmental allergies, food allergies and more.

I wouldn't use eye drops unless prescribed by your vet. My Max is allergic even to the sterile saline that says it doesn't have any preservatives. Usually the sterile saline isn't really sterile once the bottle is opened anyway. It gets worse with continued use and if the tip of the bottle touches anything.

When I need to flush something out of my boys' eyes, I use lukewarm tap water. I figure that is what goes in their eyes when they have a bath, so it can't be too bad.
