I don't feel like taping is cruel. Yorkies that have floppy ears can be adorable but they are more prone to getting an ear infection. You have to be sure to keep the ears clean whether the ears are up or down.

The reason I don't tape young puppies ears is because when the pups are with their litter mates you have to worry about the other pups pulling and biting on the tape. The majority of the time puppies ears will come up on their own but it does not hurt to give them a little help. Most of the time just keeping the hair trimmed and massaging the ears will make them come up.
