My Huey had a silky dam, yorkie sire. Dam was not a big silky, just about 9 lbs. Sire was 7 lbs. Huey is 8lbs. As for similar looks, yes and no. Seperately, you may think they look alike, but side by side comparisons of the breeds, using good, well bred examples, there are quite a few differences. I had actually never heard of a silky until my friend who had his dam got her.
I also like the sturdier frame of the silky. Huey isn't a big cuddler. He lays on me a lot, but on his terms (I actually think he's half cat...). He is very smart but very stubborn. He is independent, but wants to be independent NEAR his human.
I love the combination of the 2 breeds and if I ever get another, would like another "silkshire terrier".
