When you say under tail, do you mean the butt area? I only trim the hair that's growing out of their poopie hole bc if that's not trimmed, poopie can get stuck on there. I do not shave the bum area & the area under the poopie hole (the runway  ). If you shave this area, you'll end up w/ baboon butt!

Yay! Thank you for clarifying! Yes those little thigh/under hairs sure do get tangly and it didn't seem as though they would effect the overall goal of growing out the long coat. No, baboon butt would not be the goal
